Yesterday was a Day of Prayer for The United Methodist Church. Today, Feb. 24, begins the work of the 2019 General Conference Special Session in St. Louis. The purpose is to receive and act on a report from the Commission on a Way Forward, authorized to examine paragraphs in The Book of Discipline concerning human sexuality and to explore options to strengthen church unity.

The Memphis Conference has 4 voting delegates (top photo above). They are among 864 delegates from around the world. From left (seated yesterday in the plenary area) are Elyse Bell (lay), Eddie Bromley (clergy), Sky McCracken (clergy) and David R. Reed (lay). Some alternate delegates also are in St. Louis. Red arrow (bottom photo above) shows where the Memphis Conference delegates are seated.

Five individuals from the Memphis Conference are among approximately 150 volunteers serving as marshals and pages in St. Louis (at their own expense). They are (in alphabetical order): Rev. David Atkinson, Peggy Beasley, David Hayes, Dakota Hill and Dr. David Russell. Read More Here.
